About Pittsford
The town of Pittsford is located on Rochester’s East side on the historic Erie Canal. Established in 1789 and originally named Northfield, the town became a hub of frontier life in Western New York. This historical heritage can be seen in the buildings throughout the village as an ongoing effort is made to retain a traditional architectural character. Located just miles from downtown Rochester and a short driving distance from New York’s beautiful Finger Lakes region, Pittsford is an ideal community in which to live and work. Predominantly a residential community, the median Pittsford residential income as cited in the 2000 Census was $117,263 and the median home value was $215,000. The town measures approximately 24 square miles and has over 2,000 acres of preserved open space.
